Jason Sampey chose to begin his career of helping others by starting with public service over 25 years ago with a focus on serving the people of Louisiana. Having been offered the opportunity to serve as a Congressional Intern for Congressman Chris John, Jason realized early on that the joy of helping other people was what he wanted to focus his life’s work on. It was while serving as a Congressional Intern that Jason attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, graduating magna cum laude from the University in 2007. After graduation, Jason sought every opportunity to volunteer, donating his time to further his passion of helping others.
To fuel this passion, Jason took on the role of a Consumer Advocate within the Louisiana Department of Insurance shortly thereafter, recognizing that as a Consumer Advocate, he could argue for better insurance outcomes for the people of Louisiana from within the state’s agency dedicated to Insurance issues. While working for the Department’s Office of Consumer Advocacy, Jason routinely met with members of the community and conducted outreach on issues that matter most to Louisiana residents. It was with the experience and feeling of truly being an advocate–and knowing that only as an attorney could he reach more people and have a more impactful role in people’s lives—that Jason decided to pursue a career as an attorney.
Having the passion of helping others at his core, Jason continued to work full time throughout law school, meeting and helping others throughout his days as a Consumer Advocate at the Department of Insurance while working hard to keep his studies in focus as a full-time night student at Southern University Law Center. However demanding the work-school schedule was, it was important to Jason to keep both on the forefront. After four years of juggling both full-time schedules, Jason graduated SULC with Honors and began his post-graduate career by starting a new chapter in his life taking on a position at the Louisiana Department of Health making sure that funds earmarked for COVID relief for the people of Louisiana were distributed to community partners who could ensure the funds made an impact in peoples’ lives.
After the COVID pandemic, Jason began his personal injury practice initially by representing insurance companies. However, this practice was deeply unfulfilling and he quickly realized that a career directly representing the people injured was the path forward to bring him happiness, as well as the joy of making a huge difference in people’s lives.
Jason jumped at the opportunity to join the Ron Austin Team in late 2024 and has been serving and advocating for injured clients in his capacity as an Attorney. His decades of experience in both the insurance industry and public service uniquely places him among the most kind and passionate lawyers you will ever meet, equally being able to speak plainly to clients about their injuries and case updates while also being able to argue passionately and intelligently in court to fight for and to get his clients what they deserve.
